Brentwood / Selected Tracks
EvMC Artist and Founding Member, Michael Brent Haynes aka Brentwood is a Toronto based songwriter. He is the primary songwriter for the socially conscious recording project “legion of love”.
Over the years Brentwood has written 100’s of songs and has multi-tracked many of them at different studios in Toronto. Starting in the mid 80s he recorded at PRS Studios with Gadi Foltys. In the late 80s to the mid 90s he recorded with Marc Enkin at Village Music in the Boor West Village. From the late 90s to the mid 2000s he recorded with Bryant Didier at B. Musique Productions Studios.
All in all he has multi-track recordings of well over a 100 songs as well as 100s more just acoustically catalogued. He rarely performs as he knows his playing and singing is an acquired taste. He relates to what the great songwriter Kris Kristofferson says that he much prefers to hear other singers and players perform his songs as they elevate and validate the songs.
Brentwood’s songwriting has been compared to Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Bob Marley and The Kinks to name a few. He considers his sense of melody and lyrical style as his major strength. Here is a multi-track demo with him singing as well a couple of non-recorded acoustic takes.
